Crowns and Bridges in SE Edmonton
How Dental Crowns are Made
We only offer ceramic crowns or gold versions, upon request. Aurora Dental does not place metal or fused metal crowns, as porcelain provides the best durability and aesthetics. Ceramic crowns are the best materially as they’re clinically proven to last the longest. In addition to being incredibly strong, they’re also thinner so less tooth is cut away during the placement process. This design minimises potential tooth sensitivity during and after treatment. It can also be custom matched to the natural colour of your smile.
Do I Need a Dental Bridge?
Bridges are used if you are missing a tooth but have a healthy one on either side of the open space. Especially if those teeth could benefit from a crown since either end of a bridge essentially act as such. Bridges set on top of the two prepped support teeth, suspending an artificial crown between them. Bridges restore your bite’s function while filling in an open gap and reinforcing the support teeth.
Planning for Treatment
Dental crown and bridge treatments require two visits about a week apart. The teeth are prepped at the first appointment (a process that typically takes 1-2 hours, depending on the number of teeth involved) and then the fixed restoration is placed once it returns from our lab (only 20-40 minutes are required). We will use local anaesthetic to thoroughly numb your teeth so that some mild pressure should be the only thing you feel.
